Visitors have been coming to this corner of Devon since Victorian times, when the two villages became known as “ the little Switzerland of England “ due to the 600ft difference in height.
There is a wealth of things to do and see in the area, whether you want an active holiday or just to relax and enjoy the wonderful countryside.

Exmoor is popular with walkers, and there are many varied walks you can do from Lynton; Watersmeet and the Valley of Rocks being two of the most famous.
The South West Coast Path is easily reached from the village, and there are some spectacular coastal walks to be enjoyed close by. |

Mountain bikers will find the Exmoor terrain challenging and exciting, but if you are a more leisurely cyclist, the nearby Tarka Trail provides an interesting level route to explore.
The National Trust has several interesting houses and gardens in Devon, all worth a visit. Victoria Lodge is also close to Lorna Doone country, the setting for the famous novel. |

There are some good sandy beaches in the area, notably Woolacombe, with its vast stretch of golden sand. Boat trips are available from both Lynmouth and Ilfracombe, another seaside resort within easy reach.
